Rich Renik, a native Chicagoan, has been involved with music since six years of age when he began accordion lessons. That love of music culminated when he landed his first radio job in Fairbanks, Alaska while serving in the U.S. Army in 1968.
Since his honorable discharge from the service in 1970, Rich has been a steady fixture in Chicago radio with shows airing on such stations such as Chicago's WMAQ-AM (NBC), where he performed for thirteen years. And then, on to WUSN-99.5 (US99) for twelve more years.
Also, on-air stints included the Satellite Music Network, Interstate Radio Network and Host / Co-Host numerous of television fund raising activities for Public Television, Muscular Dystrophy and the Easter Seals Foundation.
In addition to Alpha Media USA's WCCQ-98.3, on the air at 1340 WJOL (News/ Talk/ Sports) and host of "A Rich Conversation" with no politics, no controversy - just the lively art of conversation..
Also, on-air stints included the Satellite Music Network, Interstate Radio Network and Host / Co-Host many television fund raising activities for Public Television, Muscular Dystrophy and the Easter Seals Foundation.
And, Rich co-produced and hosted an innovative show, "Now and Then Talk Radio" , and the syndicated three-hour "Country Flashback" program.
Rich has recorded two narrative record projects - an album in Nashville, Tennessee and a single release of where all proceeds were donated to various charitable organizations. "Yes, Virginia, There Is A Santa Claus", and "The Night Before Christmas".
Also, the Phyllis McGinley Christmas story comes alive with his production of "How Mrs. Santa Clause Saved Christmas".
Rich is also a published author. In 2004, Rich wrote a leadership book, entitled, "Engaging Employees in the Business of Success" which serves as the foundation for his personal corporate leadership seminars. He also teamed up with nationally know humorist and banquet speaker, Ron Dentinger, to write a book that looks at the humorous side of marriage, "How To Argue With Your Spouse".
Rich can also be heard as the voice on the Illinois Department of Transportation Traffic Information radio system and Pro-Football Weekly with Dan Hampton. Rich has served as the Official Emcee for the annual Chicago Christmas Tree Ship re-enactment at Navy Pier since 2000, as well as having been the host of the Dodgeville Wisconsin Blues Fest for thirteen years.
But Wait! There's More! His You Tube music video, "Bingo Tonite" is gaining some attention! And, as a songwriter, producer and arranger, his "Cheese Puffs and Whiskey" is all set to gain airplay by a bold radio station!

Recent guests included Rich Koz (Svengoolie), Joey D'Auria (Bozo), Jim Lovell (Apollo 13), Tom Dreesen (Comedy), Butch Patrick (Munsters), Mike Veeck (Baseball), and Terry Stevens (Garth Brooks), Dee Wallace (ET), Loretta Swit (M.A.S.H.), John McEuen (Nitty Gritty Dirt Band).
With the goal of sharing his extensive experience, Rich was a the senior instructor at the Illinois Media School and helped future broadcasters learn the skills required for a successful career in radio and TV.
Rich is married to Barbara and lives in Yorkville, Illinois. They are the proud Grandparents to thirteen children.
Rich rides a motorcycle, enjoys SCUBA diving, Sky diving, cooking, and, as a musician, Rich plays keyboards, accordion and the melodica.
